But I have more questions! Like, what should I wear? How will I get there? I don't even know how to drive yet.
Everything you need to know is down below. Keep scrolling! But also... we're not invited…
What? That's not cool. We hang out with them every day.
I know! Even though JJ & Dyl love animals SO MUCH, they're not inviting ANY to the party.
Po' Kiwi. Oh well. At least they're taking us on their honeymoon.
Ummm.... Let's look at some more photos!
What to Expect:
Essentially, a cocktail party filled with people who are important to us! Since all of our official wedding responsibilities will be finished, we can spend the whole party mingling with our nearest and dearest- that’s you!
We are so grateful for the generosity and talents of some of our favorite people who are pitching in to make our party great.
The reception will be held at the lovely home of Henry Jaffe & Kathy Winter (JJ's dad and stepmom). Plenty of delicious homemade food and desserts will be served buffet style.
We will have a variety of beverages, including home brewed beer courtesy of our brother-in-law, Ryan and our friend Tim. Live music will be performed by our great friends, the Keener Family Band.
What to Wear:
Whatever you feel great in! It's a party, and there will be a photographer, so look sharp. If you need something to Google in order to decide on an outfit, look up "Dressy Casual."
Where to Stay:
For our out of town guests, first let us thank you so much for traveling to be with us to celebrate this special day!
Rooms will be reserved at four hotels: the brand new Hampton Inn in Media, PA* as well as three in Philadelphia: the Kimpton Hotel Monaco, the Wyndham Historic District, and the Aloft Downtown. You can also check out Airbnb if you prefer to stay in the home of a local!
For those who want to stay close to the party, we recommend the Hampton Inn in Media. Media is JJ's hometown, and has an adorable main street with restaurants, bars, coffee shops, a park, and the kind of stores that sell cute things that serve no particular purpose. Within walking distance of the hotel are a grocery store, a pharmacy, and other useful places, especially for guests traveling with children. Media also enjoys the suburban perk of free parking!
Fun Fact: Media is America's first fair trade town
Some out-of-towners may prefer to stay in the charming city of Philadelphia, and for these folks we have reserved rooms at three hotels. The Hotel Monaco and the Wyndham Historic District are both located in Old City, and are close to many of Philadelphia’s most famous historic sites, like the Liberty Bell and the Betsy Ross house. The Aloft is near City Hall, Rittenhouse Square and the Ben Franklin Parkway, home to many of Philadelphia’s fantastic museums.
Check the FAQ’s below for a list of sites, attractions and restaurants in Philadelphia.
Good news! Both the Hotel Monaco and the Aloft are pet friendly!
How to Get Around:
Driving: For those with a car, please note that street parking near the party will be limited so please try to carpool.
Ride Sharing: Uber and Lyft are easy to use and plentiful in both Philadelphia and Media. Bonus! You are free to imbibe our homemade craft beer without worrying about driving.
Public Transit: Philadelphia isn’t exactly known for its public transit, but luckily the party location is right off of a trolley line and the hotels we selected all have access to public transit. Please see below for transportation specifics.
433 Chestnut Street
Philadelphia, PA 19106
Pet friendly, no size restriction!
101 North Broad Street
Philadelphia, PA 19107
Pet friendly, dogs up to 40 lbs!
Street parking will be limited, so we encourage carpooling, ride sharing, and using public transit. The party is very easily accessible via the 101 trolley from Media or 69th Street.
From Media: There is a trolley stop within easy walking distance of the hotel that will take you directly to the party. How convenient! Board the trolley at the Providence Road stop heading towards the 69th Street Transportation Center. Disembark at the School Lane station.
From Philadelphia: You can reach the party via public transit from the city hotels, but it may be easier to Lyft, Uber or carpool because a transfer is required. For the adventurous and the locals, take the Market-Frankford line to the 69th Street Transportation Center. From there, transfer to the 101 Media trolley line. Disembark at the School Lane station.
You can see the house from the School Lane trolley stop!
Q: So, this is your reception. When are you getting married?
A: We will hold a small ceremony on Friday, October 5th. Due to JJ’s extreme stage fright and Dylan’s excessive crying, we have decided to keep the ceremony as private as possible. Don't worry, we'll be sure to share photos with anyone who wants to see!
Q: What if we want to give you a gift?
A: We are so happy that you’ll be able to join us for our wedding reception! As many of you know, we’ve lived together for several years, and our house is already filled with most of the things we need to make it a home. While the presence of your company is the best gift we could ask for, a registry has been set up for those who would like mark the occasion with a gift. You can find the registry here: https://www.zola.com/registry/jjanddylan.
Q: I've never been to Philadelphia before. What should I see?
A: Philly is a great city, and it's not too big, so you can see a lot in a couple of days. Here are a few places we love:
Museums! The Philadelphia Museum of Art is world class. For those traveling with little ones, the Franklin Institute is great (and educational!). The Mutter Museum of Medical Oddities is fascinating, but NOT for the faint of heart.
Food! Philadelphia is a great city to eat in. Reading Terminal Market is a must-see. Food stalls from every culture and cuisine are represented and there is SO MUCH CHEESE. Speaking of cheese, cheesesteaks are a local delicacy, of course. In Old City, check out Chinese food from Han Dynasty or local beer from 2nd Story Brewing. In Center City, there are a variety of charming restaurants around Rittenhouse Square, including French favorites Parc and Rouge.
History! This is our nation’s first capital, after all. Old City has the Betsy Ross house, the Liberty Bell, and our favorite, Elfreth’s Alley- the oldest residential street in the US. (Or you can skip it all and watch National Treasure while eating cheesesteaks.)
Q: But I’m staying in Media. Where should I go?
A: Over the years, Media has turned into quite the restaurant town! We like Tom’s Dim Sum, Brick and Brew for pizza and beer, 7 Stones for a morning coffee and pastry, La Belle Epoque for French, and many more! Also, if it’s your first trip to the Philadelphia area, you are obligated to go to Wawa. (What’s Wawa you ask? Just go!) If you like to spend time in nature, Ridley Creek State Park is a short drive from the town and is a lovely place to stroll or hike.
